Off I go to the place I will one day call home (Part I: Intro)

Start spreading the news, I'm leaving *one day*, I want to be a part of it, New York, New York 🎶

This song was playing as we were boarding the plane to go to New York City, the city that never sleeps. This was my first time in America and you could describe my excitement as that of a dog waiting for his master to come home after a long day.

I am dedicating three posts to my trip to NYC because I can, also because you can't go on and on about the beauty and the awesomeness of NYC in one post. The first post will be an intro to my amazing time there, the second post about everything savory my stomach could hold and the third one about everything sweet, leaving the best for last.

As soon as we landed, we headed to the hotel to dump our suitcases and start exploring, I couldn't waste one minute, I had to see and eat everything and those who couldn't follow would be left behind. My family was warned and maybe a little bit worried because I was acting like a drug addict.

I had two weeks to do all of Manhattan and a bit of Brooklyn, my trainers were packed and my stomach expanded, but more on food in Part II and III so bear with me.

I'm not gonna lie, we did all the cliche things you could think of when you think about NYC. We went to central park,

and the high line, after which we ended up at the Chelsea Market, obviously!

We saw the Wall Street skyline both during the day from Brooklyn and during the night on a boat tour to see Lady Liberty.

From Brooklyn, we walked the Brooklyn Bridge to my parents' discontent, but how else were we meant to burn the ginormous pizza we'd stuff ourselves with right before (see Part II).

Another skyline we took thousands and thousands of pictures of was the one from the top of the rock, house of SNL and Jimmy Fallon. Imagine my disappointment when I wasn't able to get tickets to either one of these shows, I still cry at night sometimes because of that.

Don't worry, we didn't leave without seeing times square at night and a Broadway musical: The Lion King (I cried in the first two minutes). I swear I don't cry that much, but my emotions in NYC were heightened just like everything else there *ba dum tsss"

There's a lot of other things we got to do like museums (I had to.. but trust me I was that person sitting on the bench looking at her phone instead of the artwork), more museums and a visit to Grand central Station, Macy's etc. And there had to be food trucks around every corner, random food markets and food sculptures being created at a subway exit (the one you see is made out of beef jerky), NYC for you.

And there it is, my trip to NYC in 1/3 of a post. If you're here for the food, then you'll have to wait for the next couple of posts.

Ciao for now!
